Dior: the house of dreams and iconic bags

Beginning of July 2020, Dior publishes on his YouTube channel a presentation video for its winter 2020-2021 haute couture collection. The gentle music takes us to the riverbeds, to the heart of the forest and to the hollows of the trees, alongside the nymphs and naiads who, in this dreamlike universe, populate the Earth. They are naked, blissful, their nudity is their most beautiful feature. But the elegant wearers of the House of Dior present them with dresses, which they choose to wear to continue living their lives as beings of nature. Even nymphs prefer to wear dresses Dior rather than being naked.

The history of the Dior house

The beginning of the 20th century saw a revolution in the fashion world: women freed themselves from their long corseted dresses and freed themselves from clothes that constrained their bodies. Pants are becoming more feminine, shirts too, dresses are more fluid.
The House of Dior is part of this modernity, of which it offers a new vision. Since its first collection, in 1946, Dior highlights the female silhouette, emphasizing women's shapes, marking the waist and neck line. Christian Dior, founder of the House, is an artist, who has always been involved in the world of art: he first worked as a gallery owner, selling the works of art of artists including no less than Picasso. During the Great Depression of the 1930s he entered the world of mode : forced to close his art gallery, he joined the workshop of Robert Piguet as a stylist, then Lucien Lelong, where he collaborated with Pierre Balmain. During the war, he continued to work to keep the French fashion industry active.
At the end of the war, Christian Dior, with the experience acquired from Parisian couturiers and driven by the desire to develop its own vision of fashion, launches its fashion house. His first collection, heavily criticized, nevertheless radically changed the fashion panorama in France. The story of Dior was born.
Thanks to the House of Dior, French haute couture continues to gain popularity and remains at the forefront of modernity and elegance. The House imposed its mark on the 1950s: the Dior silhouette was the reference silhouette.
Christian Dior died in 1957, bequeathing the House to the very young Yves Saint-Laurent, also a visionary. The famous stylists have succeeded in the artistic direction of the House: Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré – creator of the Lady, John Galliano, Raf Simons. From 2016, it is a woman who for the first time in the history of the House is the artistic director.
Maria Grazia Chiuri gave a resolutely feminist tone to the presentation of its collections – the spring summer ready-to-wear show 2017, during which she parades a t-shirt proclaiming "We should all be feminists" is one example. Miss Dior

Miss Dior is first and foremost a fragrance, created by Christian Dior in honor of his courageous sister Catherine, a resistance fighter during the Second World War.
